[Verse 1] Can you hear the drums, Fernando? I remember, long ago, another starry night like this In the firelight, Fernando You were humming to yourself and softly strumming your guitar I could hear the distant drums, and sounds of bugle calls were coming from afar... [Verse 2] They were closer now, Fernando Every hour, every minute seemed to last eternally I was so afraid, Fernando We were young and full of life and none of us prepared to die And I'm not ashamed to say the roar of guns and cannons almost made me cry... [Chorus 1] There was something in the air that night The stars were bright, Fernando They were shining there for you and me For liberty, Fernando Though we never thought that we could lose There's no regret If I had to do the same again I would, my friend, Fernando If I had to do the same again I would, my friend, Fernando... [Verse 3] Now we're old and grey, Fernando Since many years I haven't seen a rifle in your hand Can you hear the drums, Fernando? Do you still recall the frightful night we crossed the Rio Grande? I can see it in your eyes, how proud you were to fight for freedom in this land... [Chorus 2] There was something in the air that night The stars were bright, Fernando They were shining there for you and me For liberty, Fernando Though I never thought that we could lose There's no regret If I had to do the same again I would, my friend, Fernando... [Chorus 3] There was something in the air that night The stars were bright, Fernando They were shining there for you and me For liberty, Fernando Though I never thought that we could lose There's no regret If I had to do the same again I would, my friend, Fernando Yes, if I had to do the same again I would, my friend, Fernando...

This most likely about the Mexican revolution of 1910. I didn't know that Mexicans had crossed the Rio grande into mexico. But the revolutionaries won that war . The Mexicans lost the American Mexican war . Houston invaded Mexico after the Alamo and lay siege to Mexico city . Mexico surrendered and Houston went back home.

To Oskar Oskarsson: You should indeed, be proud of being a Swedish guy. There is a Swedish element in ABBA's repertoire. Some of  ABBA's songs were composed, firstly, for the Swedish public, and only after that, an English version of them was written. For example, "The Day Before You Came" (the best ABBA's song in my opinion) was digitally recorded on 20 August 1982, with the working title of "Den Lidande Fågeln" (The Suffering Bird).
ABBA defined an era, and even though I was just a child back then, I do remember myself singing their songs in English even though I didn't understand a word in English back then (English is not my first language). But the beauty of their songs made me memorized the English lyrics without understanding it. I hope that all of the former members of ABBA have a happy life and are in good health.I would also like to personally thank them for the joy their music gave and still give me.
