The roses in the window box Have tilted to one side Everything about this house Was born to grow and die Oh it doesn't seem a year ago To this very day You said I'm sorry honey If I don't change the pace I can't face another day And love lies bleeding in my hand Oh it kills me to think of you with another man I was playing rock and roll and you were just a fan But my guitar couldn't hold you So I split the band Love lies bleeding in my hands I wonder if those changes Have left a scar on you Like all the burning hoops of fire That you and I passed through You're a bluebird on a telegraph line I hope you're happy now Well if the wind of change comes down your way girl You'll make it back somehow And love lies bleeding in my hand Oh it kills me to think of you with another man I was playing rock and roll and you were just a fan But my guitar couldn't hold you So I split the band Love lies bleeding in my hands And love lies bleeding in my hand Oh it kills me to think of you with another man I was playing rock and roll and you were just a fan But my guitar couldn't hold you So I split the band Love lies bleeding in my hands Love lies bleeding in my hand

Started listening to Sir Elton about 1973. 13 yrs old. My father was shot the Friday evening first day of the summer break. My sister and I were split between grandparents in a strange town. Elton John's music, Bernies lyrics took me away from the craziness that would flood over me from time to time the yrs after that cruel day in May. Life can blow your mind in the bat of a eye.

Richard Bain what makes Elton truly great is the fact that you could rearrange that list completely and it would still be amazing. My top 20 includes the same songs but in a different order!

When I was in college in 1977 we made a "Lissy Lissajous" out of a TV and pumped this through the stereo into the refurbished TV. The patterns that were generated by the synthesizer & bass blew us all away. Somedays we'd sit around getting stoned watching the patterns and listening to the awesome music pounding out of the stereo, in our dorm... instead of going to class.

I was living in Tokyo, Japan and my best friend Joe from Oregon made me a reel to reel tape of Portland radio. This was the last song on the tape. Joe died January 18th, 1975. Thanks Joe!

Not many know how long and hard the road was for Elton John before he finally hit it big. He went through a lot of stuff in his early career years that most would not have put up with.

Elton John & his band opened a concert at Randwick Racecourse (Sydney, Australia) in the summer of 1977 with Funeral for a Friend & Love Lies Bleeding. He was wearing his then trademark giant glasses & a glittery jumpsuit with coloured balls on springs. 50,000+ people and he brought the house down ! Best live concert I've ever been too ! An amazing sound, brilliant musicianship .. Yellow Brick Road arguably one of the Top Ten most influential Pop Albums of all time ...!

Saw him do the last concert of his first U.S. tour @ The Original Electric Factory in Philly. An old converted warehouse that held say 200 occupants. Your Song was the only commercial hit. He went on & on about how wonderful he'd been received here. Then proceeded to rock the walls of that cinder block cave for HOURS. He was so young and full of electricity & played like a man possessed. Still in my top 3 concerts ever. A total wildman but full of love too.
