The roses in the window box Have tilted to one side Everything about this house Was born to grow and die Oh it doesn't seem a year ago To this very day You said I'm sorry honey If I don't change the pace I can't face another day And love lies bleeding in my hand Oh it kills me to think of you with another man I was playing rock and roll and you were just a fan But my guitar couldn't hold you So I split the band Love lies bleeding in my hands I wonder if those changes Have left a scar on you Like all the burning hoops of fire That you and I passed through You're a bluebird on a telegraph line I hope you're happy now Well if the wind of change comes down your way girl You'll make it back somehow And love lies bleeding in my hand Oh it kills me to think of you with another man I was playing rock and roll and you were just a fan But my guitar couldn't hold you So I split the band Love lies bleeding in my hands And love lies bleeding in my hand Oh it kills me to think of you with another man I was playing rock and roll and you were just a fan But my guitar couldn't hold you So I split the band Love lies bleeding in my hands Love lies bleeding in my hand

Not many know how long and hard the road was for Elton John before he finally hit it big. He went through a lot of stuff in his early career years that most would not have put up with.

Love lies bleeding has been my favorite Elton John song since this album came out.  Nothing has been able to usurp it and there are some awesome songs to contend.  Thanks for posting.

Elton John & his band opened a concert at Randwick Racecourse (Sydney, Australia) in the summer of 1977 with Funeral for a Friend & Love Lies Bleeding. He was wearing his then trademark giant glasses & a glittery jumpsuit with coloured balls on springs. 50,000+ people and he brought the house down ! Best live concert I've ever been too ! An amazing sound, brilliant musicianship .. Yellow Brick Road arguably one of the Top Ten most influential Pop Albums of all time ...!

Saw him do the last concert of his first U.S. tour @ The Original Electric Factory in Philly. An old converted warehouse that held say 200 occupants. Your Song was the only commercial hit. He went on & on about how wonderful he'd been received here. Then proceeded to rock the walls of that cinder block cave for HOURS. He was so young and full of electricity & played like a man possessed. Still in my top 3 concerts ever. A total wildman but full of love too.

I lived thru the birth of rock 'n roll and was in Vietnam when it peaked. This is one of the greatest of all time because I've heard them all. Like the Mona Lisa or the Pieta, enjoy it, because there is only one.

Elton opened a concert at the L.A. Forum with this song. He floated out onto the stage, over 10 feet tall with this long yellow cape all the way to the floor. When he got to the piano, he dropped the cape, stepped down onto the piano bench, and we saw that he'd come out on the shoulders of this huge black dude. It was amazing. I wish there was video around from that.

It was like a supersonic rocket. . . just when you thought it was dying down, then the melodic drama began again, and took off like a "rocket," into outer space. Elton was in a different world altogether from "the rest." Thisss is my lifelong anthem, and ultimate high in life.

I was there, at his concert, some many years ago at Red Rocks, Colorado. You know, it was a high, just "a high" within that nobody could ever understand - it was him - Elton and Ray Cooper only. And it was all I needed to last "a life time!"
