Come as you are, as you were As I want you to be As a friend, as a friend As an known enemy Take your time, hurry up The choice is yours, don't be late Take a rest as a friend As an old Memoria, memoria Memoria, memoria Come doused in mud, soaked in bleach As I want you to be As a trend, as a friend As an old Memoria, memoria Memoria, memoria And I swear that I don't have a gun No I don't have a gun No I don't have a gun Memoria, memoria Memoria, memoria (No I don't have a gun) And I swear that I don't have a gun No I don't have a gun No I don't have a gun No I don't have a gun No I don't have a gun Memoria, memoria

I'm getting really tired of people saying how Nirvana is "overrated" and Kurt is a bad guitar player and singer. Listen here, noobs. Metallica isn't even close to being one of the best metal bands out there, yet they're still viewed as "iconic" figures in the metal scene. I'm not hating on them, I'm just saying that they're more overrated than Nirvana and have maybe 2-3 good songs, while I'm honestly still looking for a Nirvana song that doesn't sound good and doesn't send chills down my spine. Nonetheless, both Metallica and Nirvana were so successful because they were the right bands at the right time. Guns N Roses isn't overrated eh? I would not place November Rain in my top 100 favorite songs, because it simply wasn't good, yet everyone worshipped GnR. You know what makes Nirvana different from the rest of the bands? While Kurt Cobain ISN'T the best singer or the best guitar player in the world, he managed to express so many feelings in his music. He wrote fairly simple songs, in 2-3 chords, but his expressionism, his emotion and the raw feelings he put into his songs were the key to Nirvana's success despite their short lived history as a band. Kurt was capable of touching an entire generation through his perspective on life. His voice had everything: anguish, extasy, rage, sadness, melancholy, pain. Please tell me one band besides Nirvana that managed to have such an impact in just 3 years (I'm saying 3 years because they were basically unknown before they released the album Nevermind, they were just an underground garrage band), tell me one musician that captivated and gained the respect of an entire generation in such a short time. Guys, rock music isn't about executing 1000 guitar riffs in one minute and singing in 200 different styles, music is all about the message and the emotion it creates when you listen to it. Nirvana is the perfect example of this. Listening to their songs gives me a warm, nostalgic feeling, it feels almost as if I were born when they were a thing ( but I wasn't :/ ). Most rock bands give me the same vibe, while Nirvana gives me a different, more pleasant vibe. Thank you Kurt Cobain for being the spokesman of a generation, I'm sorry no one was there for you and you had such a crappy life. Your legacy lives on, and Nirvana is now, along with The Beatles, Queen, Led Zeppelin and many more bands that were iconic for their genre, among the best bands in the existence of humankind. You were a real rockstar, and your image is forever immortalized. Rest in peace.

Dear young people,

Feels like just yesterday I was listening to this album on a cassette tape. The "A" side was always my favorite. Still remember parents telling friends and I to turn it down.

You may not be able to tell but these guys were very iconoclastic and revolutionary within mainstream music at the time. Before notable bands like Nirvana and RHCP, mainstream rock was saturated with U.S glam metal and British new-wave. While those genres were pivotal in the 80's, they created a stasis in popular music by the 90's. Bands like Nirvana changed that. Within less than a year, the old genres of the 80's were being replaced with new, "alternative" genres. You're listening to but only one of the many many bands that contributed to that seismic change.

It's a fact that most young people, when developing a sense of self, of independence, will gravitate towards a music they and their generation can "come to age" with-- to identify with. It's both deeply personal and social at the same time. The generations of the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's and early 2000's are fortunate along that front. You guys, however, not so much. You're letting music be appropriated and co-opted by forces that care less for art and human expression, and more for sales and farming profitable new trends. The fact that you're having to reach back to the old music of generation X should be a wake up call.

As I remember Kurt, he would be pretty upset that newer generations would be listening to his music as their own generation's music was being hi-jacked and stolen from underneath their nose.

Love, a concerned generation X'er
